Indian News anchor learns about her husband’s death whilst reporting it

Supreet Kaur anchors for a 24 hour Hindi news channel that airs in the central Indian states of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, for the past 9 years.

Supreet Kaur begins reporting the incident live. Three people had died and two other were injured due to a SUV and truck collision in Pithora. Reports say Kaur became suspicious as she realises her husband was driving in a similar vehicle around the same area. However as images began to appear on screen of the accident, Kaur never changed her tone in voice or made her suspension obvious on screen and kept professional. “She was doing her job, and she kept on doing it with composure and without showing her emotions on air,” IBC24 editor in chief Ravi Kant Mittal said.

After it was confirmed it was her husband, Kaur broke down behind the set of the news room. They had only been married for 18 months.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh tweeted: “Salute Supreet’s strength in dealing with her husband’s demise with extraordinary bravery & professionalism. May departed soul rest in peace”
