CCTV Footage Reveals Moment Amir Khan was Robbed at Gunpoint for Watch

CCTV footage has been released of the moments leading up to the time Amir Khan was robbed at gunpoint.

The former world champion boxer from Bolton was in the East London area of Leyton with his wife Faryal Makhdoom on Monday (18 April) evening when he said he was robbed by two men for his £72,000 Franck Muller Geneve watch.

Faryal has since posted CCTV footage of the incident – which captures the moment the two men confronted Khan after he left the Sahara Grill restaurant.FightHype.com shared the footage on their YouTube account (below):

Sharing the video on Instagram, Makhdoom wrote: “Footage of last night’s armed robbery.

“Two men coming out the car… they knew exactly what time we walked out. Seems like a set up to me, considering we didn’t even post where we were. It makes me sick to my stomach to know someone sitting in the restaurant was probably the one plotting this.”

Amir also told MailOnline: “This whole thing has left me and Faryal very shaken up and scared. You don’t expect to be robbed at gun point, not in London. That’s the kind of thing that happens in the US but not in England.

“I’m lucky to be alive and once the robbers fled, I just wanted to hug my wife and kids.”The thought of my family stopped me from taking them on because if I had, I could be dead now.

He added: “100% this whole attack was premeditated. I was specifically targeted, the robbers knew where I was and were alerted to this by somebody who knew my movements.”

Khan broke the news himself on social media earlier this week – alerting users of the incident on the night of the robbery:

Scotland Yard said investigations are still underway.
