In a remarkable UK-India cultural collaboration, Yash Raj Films (YRF) and Railway 200 have joined forces to commemorate 200 years of Britain’s modern railway.
This partnership celebrates the unifying power of love through cinema and theatre, marking a historic milestone for both the railway industry and Bollywood. Adding to the excitement, 2025 also marks the 30th anniversary of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), one of the most iconic Bollywood films of all time. Directed by Aditya Chopra, the film remains the longest-running title in Indian cinema, captivating audiences since its release in 1995.
As part of this historic partnership, Yash Raj Films is bringing its musical adaptation of DDLJ – Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical – to the Manchester Opera House from May 29 to June 21, 2025. Directed by Aditya Chopra, the musical will introduce a fresh twist to the classic story.
The production follows Simran, a British Indian woman engaged to a family friend in India for an arranged marriage. However, her heart takes an unexpected turn when she falls in love with Roger, a British man. The musical features an original English score with 18 songs, blending Indian and Western influences.

DDLJ is deeply connected to the romance of train travel, with King’s Cross Railway Station serving as the backdrop for some of its most memorable scenes. In honor of this, Britain’s Railway 200 and YRF are planning immersive activations at Manchester and London railway stations to celebrate how love and culture transcend borders.
