A high-voltage clash broke out on Wednesday between Chandigarh Police and protesters seeking release of ‘Bandi Singhs’ at Chandigarh-Mohali border. Protesters were moving towards Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s house and police had to use water cannons to stop them.
Protests who were peaceful in their approach were found to be seen on the aggressive end of police who used excessive force before having to retreat when Nihang Singh’s decided to push the police back who were using battons and water canons on unarmed protesters.
India media has been criticized in their biased reporting claiming the protesters attacked the police first rather than eye witnesses claiming police attacked the protesters.
Police nor Bhagwant Mann have yet to release an official statement.
