Iron Pipe Attack at Golden Temple Injures Pilgrims

A shocking incident unfolded at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Friday, as an assailant wielding iron pipes attacked pilgrims within the sacred grounds.

The violent outburst left at least five individuals injured, one critically, sending ripples of concern through the community. According to reports, the attacker, identified as Zulfan, targeted pilgrims in the Shri Guru Ramdas Sarai, a lodging facility for visitors. Swift action by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) resulted in Zulfan being apprehended and handed over to local law enforcement.

“There was a clash inside the Golden Temple premises, and people of both sides suffered injuries,” stated Kotwali SHO Sarmel Singh. “Action will be taken according to law.”

Medical personnel at the Guru Ramdas Hospital, run by the SGPC, confirmed that one victim is in critical condition and receiving intensive care. Dr. Jasmeet Singh noted that the injured recounted being attacked with a rod by an unknown assailant.

This incident stirs anxieties, especially in light of a previous assassination attempt on former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal at the Golden Temple in December. These events raise concerns about safety within the revered shrine and prompt questions about security measures.
