British rap icons Krept & Konan, known offstage as Casyo Valentine Johnson and Karl Dominic Wilson, alongside entrepreneur Kaysor Ali Founder of Steakout & Smacks Hamburgers, are venturing into the supermarket industry with the launch of Saveways, a groundbreaking inclusive supermarket tailored to meet the diverse needs of Black, Asian, and ethnic communities.

Scheduled to open in February 2025, Saveways aims to fill a long-overdue gap in the UK’s grocery market by offering a curated selection of culturally significant products often overlooked by mainstream chains. The store will feature staples and specialty items that cater to African, Caribbean, South Asian, and Middle Eastern cuisines.
Krept & Konan’s vision for Saveways was born from their shared experiences and recognition of the struggles many people face in sourcing authentic and affordable cultural foods. “This isn’t just a supermarket; it’s a movement,” said Krept in a recent interview. “We want to ensure that everyone feels seen, valued, and included.”
Saveways will not only stock a variety of international ingredients but will also highlight Black-owned and minority-run businesses by showcasing their products prominently. The duo hopes this initiative will support smaller enterprises while fostering a sense of community empowerment.
Beyond food, Saveways plans to create opportunities for education and collaboration, with workshops on healthy cooking, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. The supermarket will also include designated spaces for community events and initiatives, ensuring it serves as more than just a shopping destination.
Fans and supporters of Krept & Konan have praised the initiative, calling it “a game-changer” for inclusivity in the retail space. The first Saveways store is set to open in London, with plans for expansion into other cities across the UK.
