Lilly Singh takes to instagram to say “In this house, WE SAY GAY! I’m committed to fighting for LGBTQ+ youth and their families. That’s why I’m proud to contribute to the newly launched Protect Our Kids Fund, an emergency fund to initiate legal challenges to Florida’s hateful “Don’t Say Gay or Trans” law, and to set up a special hotline for students, educators, and parents who’ve been harmed under the law.”
She continued with “To end this caption, I also feel the need to say that for so long I’ve seen resistance against the LGBTQ+ community in the form of, “we get it…stop talking about your sexuality.” I’ve seen the same thing re women in the form of, “we get it… you’re a woman.” For some people, hearing marginalized groups talk about their existence is exhausting. Sometimes people will even try to troll me by saying “look, it’s a Bisexual Woman of Colour!” What some people may not realize is that it’s crucial for us to scream from the rooftops about who we are, because there are “leaders” who are literally trying to erase our identities and our rights.
