London Warriors beat the Birmingham Challengers 3-1 in the final of the IPL Soccer Tournament 2022 at Derby County’s Pride Park.
London Warriors (who had former Liverpool Midfielder Jermaine Pennant amongst their starting XI) faced a tough game against Birmingham (who had former West Ham United striker Marlon Harewood in their starting XI) with London leading 2-0 at half time.
Birmingham managed to pull one back soon after the second half and late on had a change to level only to see their effort hit in the inside of the post and bounce out of play. Despite applying pressure in the closing stages of the game, London Warriors broke away and added a third before Birmingham were reduced to 10 men.
Marlon Harewood brought calm to the pitch as both teams got heated reminding players and coaching staff to remember why they were there.
The event saw the likes of Michael Owen, Michael Chopra, Juggy D, H Dhami and Bambi in attendance.
