New Sound System Installed at Sri Harmandir Sahib

A new and modern sound system has been installed at Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, marking a significant upgrade aimed at improving the experience for the thousands of devotees who visit the sacred site each day.

The system was officially inaugurated by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami following an Ardas ceremony. The upgrade focuses on improving the clarity and reach of Gurbani kirtan across the Darbar Sahib complex, ensuring that the sangat can listen clearly throughout the premises.

The seva for the installation was carried out by Sikh families based in England, reflecting the strong connection between the global Sikh diaspora and Sri Harmandir Sahib. Those involved in supporting the initiative include Gursewak Singh Shergill (Tony Shergill), Gulinder Singh, Jatinder Singh Hair, Ranjit Singh Saggu, Pardeep Singh Nijjar, and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. The initiative was spearheaded by Gursewak Singh Shergill (Tony Shergill) from BritAsia TV in coordination with the UK sangat.

Speaking during a media interaction, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami highlighted that improvements at Sri Harmandir Sahib are regularly undertaken while keeping the convenience of devotees in mind. He explained that such upgrades are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that visitors can listen to Gurbani clearly and experience the spiritual environment without difficulty.

He noted that facilities at Sri Darbar Sahib are continuously enhanced to meet the needs of the sangat, particularly as the number of visitors continues to increase. The focus remains on maintaining both high standards and the sanctity of the sacred site.

The newly installed system features modern technology and an expanded network of speakers placed across different sections of the complex. This is expected to significantly improve sound distribution, allowing Gurbani kirtan to be heard more clearly throughout the parikrama and surrounding areas.

Sri Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, remains one of the most important spiritual sites in Sikhism, attracting devotees from across the world. With thousands visiting daily, such developments are seen as essential in maintaining both the spiritual atmosphere and overall experience.

During the visit, SGPC also acknowledged the contribution of the UK sangat and held discussions regarding Sikh activities in England. It was noted that efforts will continue to strengthen connections with the diaspora and support religious initiatives abroad.

At the conclusion of the event, Gursewak Singh Shergill also shared a brief message, stating that it was a

“blessing for us to be part of this seva”

and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute towards Sri Harmandir Sahib.

This initiative reflects the ongoing spirit of seva within the global Sikh community, bringing together contributions from Sikh families across borders in support of one of the most revered places in Sikhism.
