During a recent Instagram Live, British Punjabi artist Raf Saperra stunned fans by revealing a secret: he had recorded an unreleased boliyan track with the late Sidhu Moosewala. The electrifying song was meant to blend traditional Punjabi folk with contemporary flair – but sadly, it will never be released.

“This was a track we were really excited about,” Raf shared during the livestream. “It had all the energy of a classic Punjabi boliyan but with a fresh twist. Unfortunately, we never got to finish it.”

The revelation has reignited emotions in the global Punjabi music community, especially given Moosewala’s cultural legacy and untimely passing in 2022.

Raf Saperra, whose real name is Adeel Sardar Khan, has long been admired for his ability to bridge the worlds of South London grime and Punjabi folk. Classically trained in the Sham Chaurasi gharana and proficient in traditional instruments like the dhol and tumbi, Raf carved his niche by going viral during the 2020 lockdown with gritty, homegrown folk covers.

Before launching his full-fledged music career, Raf worked behind the scenes as a music video director. It was in this role that his path crossed with Sidhu Moosewala, who invited him to direct multiple videos – including for “Signed to God” and “Celebrity Killer.” Their creative chemistry was undeniable.

Moosewala wasn’t just a singer he was a lyricist, actor, producer, and cultural game-changer. From forming 5911 Records to performing at London’s Wireless Festival, he consistently broke barriers for Punjabi music worldwide.

His tragic death in 2022 shocked fans across the globe, yet posthumous tracks like “Mera Na” and “SYL” have continued to top international charts.
