Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury is being doubled as a vaccination centre — also considered the first temple in Europe to contribute to the vaccine roll-out.
The Kingsbury temple will vaccinate 1300 people a day from the community and its local GP practices. They opened the vaccination hub in loving memory of Acharya Swamishree Maharaj.
Kingsbury Temple are also advocating the vaccine across the BAME community — not just to take part and volunteer, but also encourage and educate to take the vaccinations. Many faith organisations are believed to follow its lead and become vaccination hubs throughout the UK.
Al-Abbas Islamic Centre in Balsall Heath, Birmingham, the Guru Nanak Gurdwarda in Bradford, and Salisbury Cathedral have all joined and become pillars in supporting their communities and the NHS in the fight against COVID, reports suggest.
The Swaminarayan Kingsbury Temple in London called upon volunteers to join their vaccinating team to help beat COVID for positions for admin and vaccinating.
It is being run by the Harness Care PCN vaccination bank, who offered expressed gratitude to volunteers: “Thank you for giving up your time to volunteer supporting us to deliver the most important vaccination programme of our lifetime.”
Taking to social media, the organisation tweeted: “Fantastic to welcome @Prerana_Issar, Chief People Officer, #NHS and @LunatRaees to #KingsburyMandir where they met the team behind the first ever #Hindu temple in Europe to becoming a #COVID19 #vaccination centre! @HarnessUK.”
