Altitude Films has officially launched the trailer for Sister Midnight, a bold, genre-defying film that has already gained BAFTA recognition.
Directed by Karan Kandhari and starring the talented Radhika Apte, Sister Midnight promises a fresh take on storytelling, blending dark comedy with a punk-fueled narrative. The film is set to hit UK and Irish cinemas on March 14, 2025.
Sister Midnight follows the journey of Uma, a newlywed navigating the complexities of married life in a cramped Mumbai shack. As she struggles with domestic expectations, nosy neighbors, and a mismatched partner, she embarks on an unexpected adventure through Mumbai’s vibrant nocturnal underbelly. The film challenges traditional portrayals of women in Indian cinema, embracing an unapologetic, rebellious spirit.
The film has already garnered critical acclaim, earning a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding British Debut and receiving a Golden Camera nomination at Cannes. It also won Best Picture at Austin’s Fantastic Fest and was warmly received at international film festivals, further cementing its place as a must-watch indie sensation.
Sister Midnight boasts a compelling soundtrack featuring artists such as Howling Wolf, The Stooges, Motorhead, and Blind Willie Johnson, as well as new music from Interpol’s Paul Banks.
