THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCED AS PARTNERS FOR THE BRITASIA MUSIC AWARDS 2019

BritAsia TV are delighted to announce that The Football Association (The FA) will be supporting the BritAsia TV Presents Kuflink Music Awards 2019, in order to reach a wide Asian audience through the second phase of the governing bodies’ Asian inclusion plan, entitled ‘Bringing Opportunities to Communities’, launched in April this year. The plan looks to address the underrepresentation of the Asian community in the game at all levels. As a category sponsor at the awards, The FA will be presenting an award for the Best Breakthrough Act, beginning their partnership with BritAsia TV to further promote football to the Asian population.

As football is the country’s leading sport, The FA’s focus is to ensure that there is inclusion and representation of Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) individuals within the game at all levels. In 2015, they introduced the first phase of the ‘Bringing Opportunities….’ plan, which consisted of a variety of programmes with the objective to support the recruitment and talent development of Asian boys and girls.

Paul Elliot, Chair of The FA’s Inclusion Advisory Board said, “Ensuring football is For All and valuing and celebrating our differences continues to be a priority for The FA. We’re determined to break down any barriers which may get in the way of progress and ensure nobody gets left behind due to their race, gender, sexuality or otherwise.” Today, many Asian communities have adopted football as their sport of choice.

BritAsia TV’s visions align with The FA’s initiatives to increase representation of Asian diversity within football, as they continuously recognise the very best Asian talent within the entertainment industry, supporting their success and ensuring that Asian artists within the community are celebrated. Working together, they can tackle the issues of underrepresentation, in order to embed Asian inclusion within the football community.
Dal Darroch, The FA’s Head of Diversity and Inclusion said, “Working with BritAsia is a step forward to reach Asian communities and our work enhancing Asian participation in football continues to grow. We know there is much more to be done to ensure the game better reflects wider society. Despite representing 8% of the population, Asians are under-represented in professional and grassroots football and addressing this is something we’re committed to as part of our wider equality, diversity and inclusion strategy ‘In Pursuit of Progress’.”

Tony Shergill, CEO of BritAsia TV, added: “We are thrilled to be in partnership with the Football Association, as we are committed to increasing awareness about underrepresentation of Asian participation in the football industry, and opening the doors for Asian talent and opportunity.” The BritAsia TV Presents Kuflink Music Awards are returning for the 9th year and will be even bigger and better; a highly anticipated occasion that guarantees a night filled with enjoyment and breath-taking performances from some of the most renowned artists within Asian culture, whilst celebrating a very successful year of music. This event will be taking place on Saturday 30th November, at the iconic SSE Arena, Wembley.
