Right now social media is abuzz with Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Brahmastra: Part One Shiva, which releases on September 9. But even before the film hits screes, the grapevine is buzzing with rumours of the cast of Brahmastra part 2 already being finalized. If what we hear is anything to go by then, Brahmastra Part 2 could eventually turn out to be a casting coupe of sorts, with none other than Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh headlining the cast, along with the Part 1 pair, of Alia and Ranbir.
Informing Bollywood Hungama exclusively of the details, a well-placed industry source divulges, “No doubt, it will be a casting coup if Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are in one film! However, it will be important to maintain that each have integral parts. As for their roles, Alia and Ranbir will be seen as their respective characters from Part 1, and will have stories that run parallel to each other.” Later talking about the film Brahmastra Part 2, and what director Ayan Mukerji envisions, the source continues, “Filmmaker Ayaan Mukherji is making a big ticket franchise that will be interlinked and actors will be seen playing cameos at the end of the film, just like we see in Marvel movies.”
While Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh fans are eagerly waiting to see the two back together it remains a question whether their paths in Brahmastra Part 2 will ever cross. Ask the source about the development, and whether director Ayan has spoken to the actors about Part 2, and he continues, “Ayaan shares a great rapport with Deepika Padukone, he has directed her in the super-hit film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and if everything falls into place then this will be his first time working with Ranveer Singh.”
As of now, with no official confirmation it remains unclear whether the makers will go ahead with this. But if the past is an example, Deepika and Ranveer have been enjoying immense fame and popularity, with audience thronging screens for releases like Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani, and Ram Leela. As for the couple’s chemistry, these past film have been proof enough of their audience appreciation.
Right now, Brahmastra: Shiva Part One is in the news as its music has been widely appreciated, songs ‘Kesariya’, ‘Deva Deva’ are already chartbusters and the next one to drop is ‘Dance Ka Bhoot’. As for the film, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and directed by Ayan Mukherji, Brahmastra is said to be a three part saga that introduces the ‘Astraverse’.
