Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ reigns on No 1 spot on Netflix after box office debacle; rakes in 6.63 million hours of viewership

Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, may have failed at the box office, but thanks to its OTT release, the film is now getting its dues.

The movie which debuted on Netflix early this month, is now the number 1 film on the platform in India. According to the online streaming giant, the film has become number 1 on Netflix in India and the number 2 non-English film on Netflix globally.

As per the data, the Khan starrer has garnered over 6.63 million hours of viewership ever since it began streaming on the platform. Besides ruling the charts in India, the film featured in the top 10 list in 13 countries across the world including Bangladesh, Singapore, Oman, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Malaysia, Mauritius, and UAE.

Just a few weeks back, the movie was taken out of theatres as it was unable to generate footfalls and struggled to cross the Rs 100-crore mark at the ticket window. However, it has now managed to woo a large section of viewers that may have missed out on its theatrical release.

‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is the official Hindi adaptation of the Oscar-winning Tom Hanks starrer ‘Forrest Grump’. The film that released in theatres on August 11, earned around Rs 88 crore gross worldwide. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film also starred Naga Chaitanya and Manav Vij.
