Alia Bhatt opens up about facing casual sexism in the film industry multiple times ; says ‘women are always told to hide a lot of things’

Over the years, many actors have opened up about facing casual sexism in the film industry. Having said that, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt too reveals how she too encountered misogyny in the film industry multiple times.
In an interview with a news portal, the 29-year-old actress stated how inconvenient it is to hear sexist remarks without a cause. While she was unaware of the sexism at the time she was hearing, she later realized.

Alia said, today she has become a lot more sensitive. That’s why now I am so much more sensitive. “Sometimes my friends go like ‘what’s wrong with you, why have you become so aggressive?’”
The actress also took a dig at people for ‘sexist’ comments like – don’t be so sensitive, you’re being so sensitive, are you PMSing – To hell with you, I am not being sensitive, and even if I am PMSing so the hell what? You were born because women were PMSing’.

She also say, how people casually just pass on the comment about hiding your bra, not keeping them on the bed.” She said, how women are certainly asked to hide a lot of things. “Why hide it? It’s clothes, you’re flashing your underwear I am not saying anything. It’s not like it has happened with me actively, but there is a certain understanding of how you should hide a lot of things as a woman.”

Alia will next be seen in a dark comedy ‘Darlings’. Helmed by Jasmeet K. Reen, the film revolves around a wife who kidnaps her own husband to avenge the years of mistreatment she suffered at his hands. Her mother helps the girl in this task. The film also stars Shefali Shah and Vijay Verma in pivotal roles.

Apart from Darlings, the actress recently wrapped up Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’s schedule which also stars Ranveer Singh. Apart from this, she also has ‘Brahmastra’ alongside Ranbit Kapoor.
