Cobra Kai To End With Season Six

The phrase might be “Cobra Kai never dies,” but thanks to Netflix, it can come to an end. Hit Karate Kid sequel series Cobra Kai will wrap up with Season 6, as per the official announcement from the streaming service…

Cobra Kai, which catches up with Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) more than 30 years after their confrontations, has been a wild ride of spats, clashes, disagreements and, most recently, unity to take on scheming sensei Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) and his plans to dominate the San Fernando Valley karate scene.

Unlike some other recent cancellations, this is a show allowed to go out on its own – and its creators, which include Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg.

“Reacquainting the world with the Karate Kid universe has been our humble honor,” the trio said in a letter penned to fans. “It has enabled us to play sensei, expanding the original storylines and birthing a new generation of underdogs. We’ve never once taken this opportunity for granted. Our Day 1 goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we’ve always imagined. While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger… We hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line because as we all know: Cobra Kai never dies.”

Spin-offs are certainly something the team has talked up in the past, but they’ll likely have to wait for now, since the main trio has other projects in the works. And at least we have one more season of Cobra Kai goodness to come, likely later this year.
