Gippy Grewal on the genre of films he likes to make and what makes it so difficult to crack

As much as he enjoys spending time on camera as an actor, Gippy Grewal loves to flow his creative juices off camera too. So, apart from acting in movies, Gippy is known to direct, produce and even write for them. Also a well-known singer, who recently sung The Punjaabban Song from Jugjugg Jeeyo starring Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani says his choices in films as an actor and as a filmmaker are strikingly different.

He shares, “As a filmmaker, I like to make movies based on social causes. Making such films is quite tough. You have to work hard, because such films have a social message and it may look like preaching. Such film should not come across like aap kisiko bhaashan de rahe ho, ya aap kisi ko kuch samjha rahe ho. Nobody wants to learn what they already know, especially when they are coming to watch a film (for entertainment).”

He further adds, “On the other hand, as an actor I have been a part of out and out comedy films. So after working on films with social messages, when I do these comic films, I feel… aare yaar yeh mein kya kar raha hoon. However, I am happy that people enjoy watching these films, especially because logon ko already life mein stress hota hai and so they want to watch something light-hearted. So I feel happy making people laugh with my comedy ventures.”

Gippy’s next is Yaar Mera Titliaan Warga, which has a dose of comedy and also leaves audience with an important message. “I am really excited about this project and I hope it reaches to many people,” he signs off.
