Harnaaz Sandhu of India Crowned Miss Universe 2021

Indua’s Harnaaz Sandhu of India was crowned Miss Universe 2021 on Sunday 12 December.

The 21-year-old model from Punjab represented India at the 70th Miss Universe competition held in Eilat, Israel.

The previously reigning Miss Universe, Andrea Meza of Mexico, crowned her successor, a 21-year-old model, early on Monday in the Israeli Red Sea resort town of Eilat.

She brought home the crown 21 years after actor Lara Dutta won the title in 2000.

In a speech on stage during the pageant, Sandhu urged young people to “know that you are unique and that’s what makes you beautiful, stop comparing yourself to others.

“I believed in myself, and that’s why I’m standing here today,” she added, to loud applause from the audience.

The pageant was held with 80 other women from around the world competing for the crown. Sunday night was the last day of the competition, with eliminations narrowing down the number of finalists until the last two remained.
