Julius Packiam: Salman Khan is a huge figure of support; I am really blessed to have been a part of all his awesome movies

National Award winning background music composer Julius Packiam has films like ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘Mardaani’, ‘Dhoom 3’, ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ and many others to his credit. The ace musician has been nominated for the Best Background score for Kabir Khan’s Ranveer Singh starrer ‘83 at the 67th Wolf777news Filmfare Awards 2022.

ETimes got in touch with him for an exclusive interview where he spilled the beans on the importance of BGM in Bollywood, working with Salman Khan, line-up of upcoming projects and more.

I am honoured and humbled. I was nominated twice before this for ‘Kabul Express’ and ‘Mardaani’. I didn’t win both times. So I hope I am lucky the third time. It is a good thing to be nominated. It is a great feeling. However, I am not keeping my hopes high.

My journey has been amazing. It has been a joyride, more of a roller-coaster. There have been ups and downs and everything that comes alongside. At the same time, I feel more than grateful and blessed. It has been amazing. There has been so much that I have learnt and so much that I want to learn as well. The process is still on and I am raring to go ahead.

You have worked with Salman Khan in films like, ‘Ek tha Tiger’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘Bharat’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, ‘Sultan’, ‘Tubelight’ and ‘Kick’. Tell us something about the equation you share with the ‘Dabangg’ star. He is an awesome dude. He is one of the coolest guys to be with. He is so welcoming, supportive and chilled out. His presence itself is overwhelming and you tend to do much more than you are capable of, especially when he is on screen. He is a huge figure of support and I am really blessed to have been a part of all these awesome movies that he made.

Not really. He actually lets everybody have their hand on it. Being professionals, he is appreciative of people who are in charge of their departments and they will do their best and he respects that. I appreciate that. Yet sometimes, in the beginning, during ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, when the theme was being made, he suggested how the theme should be. He did have some suggestions and his suggestions were very potent and valuable. They definitely helped in the creation of the theme.
