Karan Johar opens up on mediocre actors who consider themselves stars, reveals that many of them are ‘deluded’

Filmmaker Karan Johar never minces words when it comes to issues he faces as a director. Whether it is about nepotism, his closeness to a certain bunch of actors or his big budget movies, the 50-year-old is always his candid best when it comes to putting his point across.

Karan recently appeared on the Masters’ Union podcast, where he spoke at length about actors who have delivered a couple of hit films and suddenly start behaving like these big budget stars. Admitting that he might invite a lot of wrath for saying this, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director candidly asked that when an actor can’t even guarantee him an opening of 5 crores, then how can he come up to him and ask for 20 crores as his fees?

Adding that many of these stars are ‘crazy’, Karan revealed that they are all ‘deluded’, since only after a couple of movies, it is all about themselves and the amount of money they make.

The filmmaker, in the same interaction also added that amongst all regional industries, Telugu cinema is the most lucrative, since they come up with the biggest projects, that are commercially viable as well.

On the workfront, Karan Johar is set to return to direction with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. The movie will release in April this year.
