Mukul Dev to Star in Film Based on Bhagat Singh Muse, Kartar Singh Sarabha

Actor Mukul Dev is set to star in a film based on Kartar Singh Sarabha — the force behind Bhagat Singh’s uprising against the British rule.

The actor, who has received an Amrish Puri Award for his comic performance in ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’, told newswire Ians Live the period film aims to give the Indian revolutionary “recognition and respect”.

Directed by Kavi Raz, the film centres on the life of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, along with Bakshish Singh and five others who were executed by the British in the Lahore Conspiracy Case of November 1915.

Mid-day shared the actor’s thoughts on the period piece:

“It’s a legendary character. It’s a very exciting project. The cast is an ensemble and is from various parts of the world. We have a very exciting team and the project is legendary stuff. It has got to be handled with care. I am very excited about the project,” Mukul said.

“The audience will love it and it would give a hero, the much-needed recognition and respect. I am waiting for the audience to celebrate this figure,” he added.

Dev also shared the news through a post on his Instagram platform:
