This week, we’re looking at North America for our summer top trips! The continent is fun all year round but truly gets lively in the summer – let’s take a look at where you should be heading for your perfect getaway!
Cancun, Mexico is the perfect beach getaway, especially the area to the south, the Riveria Maya, which is home to 150 miles of white sandy coastline. With white coral sand, Cancun’s beaches stay cool and comfortable for you to fully enjoy.
Playa Delfines or Dolphin Beach is perfect for those wanting something unbuilt but accessible, with its slightly rougher waters being great for surfing and the more adventurous beach-goers.
New York City! Of course the shopping capital has to be our top recommendation! Home to the world famous 5th Avenue, Bloomingdale and Macy’s! Whatever you’re on the hunt for, high-end designers, vintage designers or antiques, New York is sure to have it all.
LA, Vegas, New York are of course no-brainers when it comes to dancing the night away in this vibrant continent. But Cuba is an unsung hero when it comes to nightlife in North America. Havana has a massive sea wall running along the northern edge of the city, called the Malecon.
The main party area is on the corner of the Malecon and La Rampa, with the big crowds and wild parties. However, for an unpretentious and lively experience and to truly immerse yourself in the local culture of music and dance, the Malecon is probably the best place to go!
Hawaii is not only somewhere to enjoy a relaxing beach getaway, it is also a land full of cultural and historical significance to the rest of the world. You can take a trip to the state and learn more about the WW2 tragedy of Pearl Harbour at the memorial of the sunken warship the USS Arizona.
You can also take a trip around the Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park on the Big Island of Hawaii, which is the site of an ancient native Hawaiian settlement. Its fishponds, petroglyphs and religious sites will definitely satisfy the curious!
Disney World in Florida, USA is a given family favourite. But for our top pick, we’re thinking out of the box with Jamaica. Moon Palace in Jamaica Grande is perfect with opportunities to swim with dolphins at Dolphin Cove, visit waterfall and beach Dunn’s River Falls, and learn about the life of iconic musician Bob Marley at the Bob Marley museum.
Jamaica has a host of things to do that will keep both adults and children enthralled!
Active and Adventurous
Is there anything more adventurous than living on the road? I thought not. We recommend the Trans-Canada Highway to plan a route best suited to, with opportunities to do week-long road trips such as ‘Prairie Ramble’, ‘Historic Ontario’, ‘East Coasting’ and ‘Ride the Rockies’.
You can see so many of Canada’s must-see experiences, including historical villages of Quebec’s Route 132 and the Bay of Fundy. There’s something for everyone, with both adventure and fun to be had.
