‘Only Salman Khan and Karan Johar helped me’

Actor Mimoh Chakraborty, the son of Bollywood legend Mithun Chakraborty, expressed gratitude to Salman Khan and Karan Johar for going out of their way to help him in his career, at a time when the industry had turned its back on him. Mimoh debuted as a lead actor in 2008, but his career failed to lift off. He last appeared in a supporting role in the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Jogira Sara Ra Ra.

In an interview with Bollywood Helpline, Mimoh spoke about his struggles, and admitted that he used to ask his parents to put in a good word for him with their friends in the industry. He said that sometimes people replied, but mostly, they didn’t. Salman and Karan, however, were among the only industry bigwigs to lend him a helping hand.

He said, “Salman Bhai and Karan Johar, they are the only two who have actually helped me. Salman Bhai loves dad a lot, and whenever I message asking if I can meet him, he says, ‘aaja, come over’. I go and chill with him, he sits with me, gives me a lot of good advice. I don’t want to say how much (he’s done for me), but he has done a lot for me. Unfortunately, those projects never kicked-off…”

Mimoh continued, “Karan Johar has gone out of his way to help me and Namashi, my brother. He has introduced me to so many people, connected me with so many people and agencies. These two have really gone out of their way, but the rest is up to destiny.”

Mimoh debuted with the film Jimmy, which tanked critically and commercially. He said that immediately after the film’s debut, several other projects that he had signed were cancelled. But he followed it up with the film Haunted 3D, which did well commercially, but didn’t do anything for Mimoh’s career.
