Bhangra Industry Pays Tribute To Balwinder Safri

As the music industry is struggling to come to terms with the passing of Balwinder Safri, artists have been paying tribute to Balwinder Safri.

Guru Randhawa wrote for Balwinder Safri, ‘We will cherish your music and contribution to Punjabi music forever’.

Balwinder Safri was known for his hit tracks such as, ‘O Chan Mere Makhna’, ‘Chan Meray Makhna’, ‘Par Linghade’, and ‘Pao Bhangra’, he passed away on 26/07/2022, aged 63.

Multiple artists including Guru Randhawa, Neeru Bajwa, Jassie Gill, Babbu Maan have expressed their condolences. Randhawa shared a picture of Safri with the caption, “We will cherish your music and contribution to Punjabi music forever sir. Rest in peace. Alvida sir Balwinder Safri.”

 

The Punjab-born star, from Birmingham, had been a part of the UK bhangra scene since 1980 and formed the Safri Boyz Band in 1990.

Safri had been in a coma after suffering brain damage following heart surgery in April. The 63-year-old was discharged after 86 days in New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, and moved to a specialist rehabilitation center.

“Another legend left us 💔 safri Bhaji changed the game with his music and sound safri boyz were one of the best band I seen ,Bhaji was such a humble human being always had smile on his face I remember going to Uk first time in 1994 and learnt so much from him giving me tips how the Uk crowd is chilling with him our soho road house just having a laugh and of course mefil along side sukshinder shinda 22 🙏🏽 I was hoping to see u in august safri Bhaji 💔 heart broken ! Waheguru ji apney charna which nivas bakshan🙏🏽”

Babbu Maan express his feelings saying:

“Balwinder Safri Saab ya jine v Seniors Kalakar veer UK ch a onna nu assi apne shows aamantrit krde rahe han te enna ne hr wari wadde bharawan wang saada maan rakhyea .. takribn hr show lyi sma kad ke aunde rahe a.. Alwida Safri Saab.

Balwinder Safri Saab or any seniors artist veer in UK are inviting them to their shows and they have always kept their promises in Bharawan and always. Takriban is coming for every show. Goodbye Safri Saab..”

Mika Singh also commented:

“The legendary Singer #Balwindersafri has sadly left us with his beautiful memories.. I’ve grown up listening to his music and his legacy will live on and be remembered forever. May God bless his soul, rest in eternal peace.. Waheguru 🙏🏼”

Neeru Bajwa shared a message saying:

“Menu yaad hai Balwinder ji nu asi window tho dekya si during #beautifulbillo shoot… we were so excited. He so graciously came up to meet us. Dont make them like that anymore…. Thank you Sir for giving Punjabi music industry so much🙏🏼 You will be forever live in our hearts #balwindersafri ji 🙏🏼🙏🏼”
