THE BEST WINTER WARMER COCKTAILS

Winter is well and truly underway, along with the festive period.

There’s nothing better than making a cup of hot chocolate and cuddling up by the fire, but sometimes we need that added kick in our beverages.

We’ve put together a list of all our favourite cocktails, that will keep you warm during the winter., and will get you in the festive mood.

Tia Maria Cappuccino

Winter calls for warm drinks and coffee flavoured liquors, and this combination from Tia Maria defines Winter Warmer.

Tia Maria Cappuccino

Ingredients

  • 25ml Tia Maria
  • 25ml vodka
  • Shot of espresso

Method

  • Shake all ingredients and pour into glass
  • Add foam on top

To make the foam…

Ingredients

  • 100ml salted caramel or Morello cherry syrup
  • 200ml water
  • 2 egg whites
  • Two cream chargers

Method

  • Foam the drink
  • Garnish with salted fudge/a single cherry

Sloe Gin Fizz – by The Voyage of Buck 

This refreshing cocktail has a great mix of flavours that ooze winter!

Ingredients

  • 50ml Sloe Gin
  • 25ml Lemon
  • 25ml Cloudy apple
  • 12.5ml Dandelion and burdock cordial
  • Prosecco

Method

  • Shake all ingredients except prosecco
  • Single strain into tall glass over cubed ice
  • Top up with prosecco or sparkling wine
  • Garnish with orange zest and seasonal fruits or spices

Patrón x Coffee

This luxurious mix of Patrón with coffee can be a beverage to be enjoyed by a blazing fire.

Ingredients

  • 52.5ml Patrón XO Cafe
  • 30ml Coffee
  • .25 Spiced sugar syrup

Method

  • Add Patrón XO Cafe, coffee and spiced sugar syrup to an old-fashioned glass, add ice.
  • Stir to combine.
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick and orange peel.

Cazcachino by Cazcabel

The added coffee liquor in your coffee will be the winter warmer you need over the festive period.

Ingredients 

  • 25ml Cazcabel Coffee Liquor
  • 50ml Expresso
  • Hot Milk
  • Sugar- optional

Method

  • Add the Cazcabel Coffee and Hot Expresso to a Coffee Cup.
  • Heat and froth milk to a nice fluffy consistency and pour into Coffee Cup and serve
  • Add extra sugar to taste if required

Easy Espresso Martini by Conker Spirit

Espresso Martini’s are quick and easy to make, and will be a drink you will sipping on throughout winter.

Ingredients

  • 50ml Conker Cold Brew
  • 25ml Vodka

Method

  • Combine vodka, ice and Conker Cold Brew.
  • Shake and pour then adore!
  • Garnish with coffee beans if desired.

Cherry Negroni – by Hamilton’s

Unwind in the evening with a glass of Cherry Negroni, where the flavours of cherry will warm you right up.

Ingredients

  • 50ml Gin
  • 12.5ml Campari
  • 12.5ml Maraschino cherry liqueur
  • Dash Cherry bitters

Method

  • Stir all ingredients slowly with ice – approx. 60 rotations
  • Single strain over large block of ice – large blocks will not melt as quickly and over dilute the drink
  • Rim the glass and garnish with orange zest

The After-Dinner Mint Cocktail

This cocktail makes the perfect after dinner drink!

Dingle Mint Choc Chip Dingle Original Gin

Ingredients

  • 25ml Dingle Original Gin or Dingle Vodka
  • 15ml Crème de Menthe
  • 10ml Crème de Cacao Brun
  • 10ml Crème de Cacao blanc
  • 50ml Single Cream
  • 5ml Vanilla Syrup
  • Ice
  • Mint leaves to garnish

Method

  • Shake all ingredients vigorously to chill and dilute.
  • Fine strain and serve straight up
  • Garnish with single mint leaf
  • For a lighter version, or for those lactose intolerant, soya/almond milk can be used to substitute the single cream

Tio Twists – Hot the Dickens!

This warm cocktail will make the perfect winter drink.

Ingredients

  • 40ml Tio Pepe Fino
  • 15ml gin
  • 2 tsp brandy cream
  • 1 tbsp mulling spices
  • 60ml hot water
  • Orange peel and berries to garnish

Method

  • Combine the Tio Pepe, gin, brandy cream and mulling spices in a saucepan over a low heat.
  • Stir until the liquid is hot, but not boiling.
  • Filter into a teacup and garnish with a twist of orange peel and berries or redcurrants and star anise.

BerryWorld Winter Pimm’s 

Everyone loves a Pimm’s and this cocktail makes it a great winter beverage.

Ingredients

  • 300ml Apple Juice
  • 100ml Winter Pimm’s
  • Blackberries, Apple, Orange and Cinnamon stick to serve

Method

  • Gently heat the apple juice when it’s steaming add the Winter Pimm’s and bring back to steaming.
  • Put a couple of blackberries in each glass along with some slices of apple and orange and a cinnamon stick. Pour over the warm Pimm’s and serve.

Hot Rum Punch

This is rum based cocktail is another beverage that will give you that extra heat.

Ingredients

  • 330 ml The Duppy Share
  • 1.5L Cawston Press Cloudy Apple Juice
  • 5cm of fresh, peeled ginger
  • 2 tea spoons of brown sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • ½ tablespoon of vanilla essence (optional)
  • 2 squeezed limes
  • 1 ripe pear, thinly sliced

Method

  • Batch prep punch in Duppy hot rum and serve in Duppy 8oz cups

Manifest Maniposh

Any drink that has Jägermeister in it, is sure to give any drink that extra kick.

Ingredients

  • 35ml Manifest Jägermeister
  • 10ml Apricot Brandy or Apricot Purée
  • Top with prosecco

Method

  • Pour the Manifest and the apricot brandy into the champagne glass and top up with Prosecco.
  • Lightly stir with a bar or long handled spoon. For a lighter version sub the apricot brandy with either apricot or peach purée.

Warm Dup

This hot punch serves 4 people. It’s the perfect recipe for a night in watching TV or for a winter drinks party.

Ingredients

  • 160ml of Duppy Share
  • 160ml of fresh single cream
  • 60ml of pineapple juice
  • a fresh pineapple quarter
  • 40g of unsalted butter
  • 20g of brown sugar
  • half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Method

  • Cover the pineapple in half of the butter, sugar and cinnamon and bake in the oven at 180C for around 20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Warm the remaining butter and sugar along with the double cream and pineapple juice in a pan.
  • Pour 40ml of Duppy Share into a suitable heatproof glass or mug and ladle the hot mixture over the top.
    Cut the baked pineapple into wedges and add to the glass as a garnish
    Lightly dust the top with the remaining cinnamon

Another warm beverage that will keep you warm in the long, cold nights.

Ingredients

  • 2L apple cider
  • 2 apples, one cubed, one sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 2cm piece fresh ginger, peeled
  • 2 star anise
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 70cl gold rum
  • Ground cinnamon to garnish

Method

  • Heat the cider in a saucepan with the apple cubes, orange, ginger, star anise and cinnamon sticks.
  • Remove from the heat, add the rum.
  • Garnish with apple slices and ground cinnamon.

Mulled Apple Juice with Pink Lady® Pomander

Anything that is mulled is the ideal winter drink, and this drink doesn’t disappoint.

Ingredients

  • 3 Pink Lady® apples
  • String
  • Skewer/toothpick
  • 60g cloves
  • 5 litres Pink Lady® apple juice
  • 3 shots of rum
  • Peel of 3 oranges
  • 5 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 star anise

Method:

  • Make each pomander by wrapping string around the Pink Lady® apple as if you are tying a bow around a present. Wrap the string around the apple three times and tie a knot to secure. Leave some long pieces of string on the top of the apple.
  • Using a sharp skewer or a tooth pick, prick holes in vertical lines down the apple, then push the cloves into the holes.
  • In a large pan place the Pink Lady® apple juice, rum, orange peel, cinnamon sticks, star anise and your Pink Lady® Gently bring to a near boil, then let the juice simmer gently for 5 minutes and turn off the heat. Serve hot or warm.
